60s for daytime highs. as we look around the bay shoreline, it's going to be a warm one. sunshine from the get go. so take those sunglasses with you this morning. we'll have that sunshine early on temperatures in the afternoon, upper 70s for daytime highs. even warmer here as we head inland. nothing but sunshine today and highs in the mid and upper 80s. let's see how the commute is going with amanda. good morning. >> yeah good morning drew. it's pretty quiet around the bay area except for that typical slowdown over on the altamont pass. but there's also a sigalert that we're following in the south bay. this is san jose. a big rig is on its side blocking the northbound 101 ramp to northbound 880. now, the big rig was loaded with about 40,000 pounds of strawberries and the northbound 880 connector ramp to northbound 101 is also closed. we know that sand barrels were hit. here's a live look you can see just at the top of your screen. the white thing that is the big rig on its side. caltrans crews are working to clear the sand that you see across several lanes right there. there's no estimated time of reopening, but we'll keep our

eye on it for you. back to the desk, reggie. thanks, amanda. >> developing news. parents are raising security concerns after multiple middle school girls were arrested for being involved in a school fight in novato. video shows at least one female student being assaulted during lunch time last friday, there was at least three girls beating down on her while other students surrounded them, some filming the fight. this happened at sinaloa, sinaloa middle school. excuse me? upset parents attended a meeting at the school last night and update from police is expected today. melanie sanchez says her daughter was arrested because she was seen on camera throwing punches. she claims her daughter and others were bullied by the student who was attacked on the video. >> hugging my daughter goodbye when she's never been away from me. >> that did it. when they took her to away today. >> yeah, and i can't imagine how the other parents felt when they came home from work and their daughter was gone. >> police say school administrators knew about an initial attack thursday. on

friday, two extra private security guards were brought in, along with a number of additional administrators. the two district wide school resource officers were not on campus. >> today could be a pivotal day in scott peterson's effort to overturn his conviction for killing his wife and unborn child. more than 20 years ago. he will appear virtually before a judge in redwood city. his attorneys are arguing for new dna testing for evidence involved in the case. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us live outside the courthouse with what his lawyers are hoping to uncover. gloria good morning. >> kumasi that hearing will start at 9:00 this morning here, and it could potentially have huge implications. today, a judge will hear arguments about whether to revisit dna evidence in the murder of laci peterson and her unborn child, 20 years ago. the la innocence project is focused on a van and bloody mattress found near the peterson home in modesto. tests five years ago found no signs of

penalties. protests have been happening on campus since may 1st. graduate workers who are a part of the united auto workers union joined the protest on may 20th, and now the uaw membership has expanded its strike at ucla and uc davis. hundreds of unionized academic workers hit the picket lines yesterday, joining their counterparts at uc santa cruz. these are grad students who teach, do research and support faculty. they're on strike to protest the university of california's response to pro-palestinian protests on campuses. they want uc administrators to give amnesty to students who face arrests, to disciplinary actions for protesting. >> if there is no amnesty for the students and the student workers that were peacefully protesting in our campus, and because of that are not facing charges and all the way to eviction from the university. there's, you know, that's just the bare minimum that we're asking for. >> ucla vice chancellor mary osako said in a statement,

it's just going to be very gorgeous. later on. we have just nothing but warm temperatures on the way today. temperatures right now around the bay shoreline. we're generally in the 50s some low 60s though you can see in parts of contra costa county, brentwood right now, 61 degrees. we'll head into the north bay where we are clear air and temperatures. for the most part. you can see santa rosa, fairfield. we're in the mid and upper 50s right now. so looking at the forecast today, i mean inland sunshine, upper 80s for daytime highs. the bay shoreline you're equally as bright. we'll have those temperatures well into the 70s going to feel warm. and even along the coast a nice day to be along the coast with temperatures in the low 60s for daytime highs. so wall-to-wall sunshine today. look at our highs in our microclimates 70s and 80s for the south bay. so it feels a lot warmer today compared to yesterday, and a lot less wind as well. along the peninsula, no matter where you are, we'll have sunshine pacifica 61 but 76 for redwood city. it's a warm one in the city today. will hit 70

felony in san mateo. >> lauren martinez, abc seven news crime victims in san francisco will soon have access to more help, the city has announced. >> the establishment of the office of victim and witness rights. this office will provide support and assistance to victims and their families in the aftermath of a crime, during criminal prosecution and after a verdict is reached. that office will also connect crime victims to available resources citywide. it will be led by civil rights attorney ivy lee, who's worked in the mayor's office as a policy advisor on public safety and victims rights. >> this office will have one purpose, which is to try to make government work better for survivors and the people who serve them. >> we have so many organizations and people who do this work every single day. and now you have a city department that is leading the effort and will make sure that we do the analysis necessary to provide you with
