I've met a lot of strong and determined people over the years but if you want to learn about toughness and resilience, talk to (or, in my case, live with) a transplant patient. They've been through hell and, in the case of this woman (who, for some reason, chose to buy me a wedding ring), managed to smile at every demon and challenge she met along the way.Organ donations do more than save lives of the recipients. They also give their families their lives back too.Click on the video below to see why we'll remain eternally grateful to family of our donor for their gift. We'll never know who they were but will be forever in their debt. We're also thankful for the world-class medical care by the experts at Mediclinic Middle East, including Dr Waldo Conception, Dr Fahad Janahi, Dr Eliane Younes, Dr Ali Jawas, Dr Ramzi Abou Ayache - and, of course, all the nursing staff. To have been a part of their success and pioneering work in the region was truly astounding.Oh, and if you're on the fence about signing up to be a donor - then just do it. Please. #hayat #mediclinicmiddleeast

Photographers are always looking at new gear to give them an edge. New functions and features promise to push your creativity to the next level, while amazing promotional videos and images really fuel that desire to spend on equipment. We're all guilty of it. And, having spent a ton on gear over the years, here's a bit of advice I have for those who worry that their camera bag may not be worthy of a professional shoot.1. Gear matters - but not in the way you think. It needs to be reliable and well maintained.2. It's better to have two medium spec camera bodies than one super-duper one. If one camera is out of action, you'll need the other to cover any work coming your way.3. You don't need a ton of lenses. One or two key primes or zooms will cover almost every situation.4. Be adaptable. Knowing your equipment and adapting to the requirements of the job is key.5. Just get out and shoot 1. Digital and mirrorless cameras offer freedoms that film never could. Go an explore them.6. Just get out and shoot 2. Pointing your camera at something and pressing the shutter is far better than fawning over adverts for gear that might put you in a financial hole.7. Just get out and shoot 3. It doesn't have to be perfect to be great. The Bronco image below was a quick grab, one-time deal, shot during the late afternoon, with no time to adjust settings. It's slightly soft because the shutter speed was a little slow. It was the only shot we managed to get that afternoon before the video team took control. But it worked, and the client loved it.Good luck!

Launching vehicles takes a lot of work. Launching three to the world within a few weeks of each other is a whole new level. For the global reveal of the new Ford Ranger, Ranger Raptor and Everest, our work at the agency began at the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020. Those early talks with engineers, designers, product development teams and others really helped us to work with Ford to develop its launch plans. From global releases, images and video to ongoing sustainment storytelling and local market launch support, our team was all over it. Our crews in Australia, Thailand and the UAE worked tirelessly with Ford to craft the words, video and images required to launch all three nameplates. The Ranger was launched in November 2021, Ranger Raptor in February 2022 and Everest in March 2022. It’s one of the biggest projects I’ve ever worked on, and it’s something our team remains incredibly proud of.It wouldn’t have been possible without the work of Isaac Bober, Marcel de Quadros, Shoushig (Sue) N. Kleinsmith and the many others to drive the entire process. I apologise to all who I've not named, but the list would fill this post.If you're interested in looking back at some of the work we did for these global launches, here are a few links:https://lnkd.in/d_6GX_JThttps://lnkd.in/dn3tBPfZhttps://lnkd.in/dV-G3yk4

Part of what makes this job amazing is taking those "wouldn't it be great if" ideas and making them a reality. Gathering together Ford's Raptor collection - the F-150, Bronco and Ranger - in the Middle East, the only market in the world at the time to have all three available, just made sense. Conceived, shot and produced by our small team of brilliant creatives (Matthew Tyzack, Ahmed Faraz and Vivek Shahani) with the support of Ford Middle East (Pedro Simões, Kiko Roest, Daniel Diament, Andrew Gregory, Rania Al Shurafa and many others), this one-day shoot produced images and video to support Ford's marketing and comms initiatives for social and earned media. So, which is the best? Everyone on the shoot had their favourite and we really struggled to reach a consensus. They're all brilliant but it's difficult to look past the Ranger Raptor's size and performance for weekend fun in the mountains or blasts in the desert.https://lnkd.in/dqgnRzgm

Solar powered cars may still be some way off but solar power is helping Ford to build trucks and SUVs, destined for markets all around the globe, more efficiently. Here's a look at how Ford Thailand Manufacturing is managing to harness the power of the sun to make Ranger pickups and Everest SUVs, cutting its reliance on local electricity suppliers and paving its way toward sourcing 100 per cent carbon-free electricity for global manufacturing by 2035.

Every cool car shoot needs a little spice - and long before digital fakery became a thing, those smoky tail-out shots of sports and supercars sliding around mountain bends had to be done for real. Not by me, mind. My talents as a stand-in for the Stig were pretty limited - and have since been confined to desert dune-bashing adventures on weekends when the temperatures are tolerable. Not that sand driving is easy. Sometimes it can be utterly terrifying. But it was fantastic to be able put those skills to use on this project for Ford - a series of lifestyle films to support the launch of the new Ranger in the Middle East. It doesn’t seem over a year since we filmed this for #fordmiddleeast.Honoured to have been part of the production team: Ahmed Faraz, Vivek Shahani, Ahmed Jaffar - and proud to have played a part in helping bring the vision of the Ford Middle East marketing team - Pedro Simões, Kiko Roest, Nuzhat Merchant and the countless others - to life.

Working for Ford isn't just about preparing for vehicle launches or mining for product news. Internal comms is an important part of the work we do at Makerhouse, and the Faces of Ford series has been a huge success. It's great to see the global team using it on LinkedIn too.

Working across an enormous region spreading from west Africa to New Zealand isn't without its challenges but the crew behind this international production really pulled off something special. The shoot involved crews in South Africa and Australia, with support from Dubai, Thailand and Australia to finalise launch assets for the next-gen Ranger Wildtrak X. This content will reach global audiences, and is the first to bring together features like Ranger's cool new flexible rack system and trail turn assist. It's a credit to the hard work of people like Isaac Bober, Marcel de Quadros, Gautam Manu, Smarty Pothithet, JJ Seaman and Karl Gehling that we're able to work on projects like this.
