Water Conditions: Slight breeze waves less than 1

Morning started out less than ideal when unable to get power to depth finder. Despite unsuccessful attempts to trouble shoot the problem ended up fishing without its use. We dropped a down rigger ball to the bottom for a reference and marked 70 feet noting the pack was inside this depth. We paralleled the shore from Freeport to the marina using this reference. We ended up with 23 catch and release eyes the biggest 25 inches and the rest ran from 16 to 20 inches with a few dinks thrown in. Ran 5 color lead core, down rigger and dipsey with the dipsey taking only one on small fire tiger spoon. The rest of the fish on plugs with flicker minnows and reef runners taking the majority of fish. I guess the "proverbial blind squirrel" does occasional gets what he wants.

This past weekend was a difficult one to be on the water, with high winds and lots of rain. Anglers who braved the weather were met with excellent walleye fishing. Fishing remains similar to weeks past, with great numbers of fish found at a variety of depths, with 50 - 70' producing the best. All Pennsylvania waters seem to be loaded with walleyes at this point, with great numbers of fish being reported from areas such as Shades Beach, the dump, off the lighthouse, and from Walnut to Elk.

Water Conditions: Calm

The walleye fishing continues to be nothing short of spectacular. Saturday consisted of a pretty calm lake and excruciating heat with nonstop sunshine. Lots of anglers report success in 50 - 55' as well as out in 65 - 75'. There are lots of fish out there and lots of places to go find them! Thundersticks and small spoons fished on Leadcore have been deadly. See photo from Joe of Nemesis Sport Fishing. When they eat it like that, you're on the right track. Walleye seem to be consistently in the top half of the water column.

Hey guys it’s Dan with Erie Walleye Charters. The walleye bite has been on fire for the past couple weeks. We have been launching out of shades beach in Harborcreek PA. 55 to 60 feet of water has been the sweet spot for us. Most of our fish have been coming on #1 dipsys 100ft back with Storm Thunderstick Jrs. Any minnow color pattern has performed the best for us. We have also been catching some of our bigger fish on in-line planer boards with 3oz weights and a bomber 24a 125 to 150 back. If you’re interested in booking a trip check out or call/text Dan at 814-572-1650. Thanks!

Walleye fishing continues to be awesome in seemingly all PA waters, with off of Walnut being the most productive. Success can be found in a variety of depths at the moment. There are enough fish to fill limits in 20-25ft as well as in 50-60ft. Pick your poison on technique. Limits are even being filled jigging. Crawler harnesses, spoons and shallow cranks on divers, and deep cranks on leadcore are also catching fish depending on the depth you're targeting. Get out and catch 'em!

Water Conditions: Calm

Walleye fishing is off to a hot start! The shallow water night bite remains excellent, but the daytime bite has started to improve. Walleyes can be found in a variety of depth ranges at the moment, with anglers reporting success in as shallow as 20' during the day. Most anglers reported 50-65' to be the most productive with fish surprisingly close to the bottom.

Location: Lake Erie
Time Observed: 5/24/2024
Water Conditions: Calm

The night bite for walleye has been hot! Trolling shallow plugs in 8-20fow has yielded success for most anglers. Shore anglers are also catching fish concentrating near creek mouths. The daytime bite is not quite as stellar, but walleyes can still be caught in the 15-30+fow range. There should be some windows to get out this Memorial Day weekend, but there are some strong winds and storms in the forecast. Be cautious and use your best judgment! Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Very high and brown this afternoon.

Location: Erie Tributaries
Time Observed: 3/15/2024
Water Conditions: Rising

The tribs are on a slow rise, but have good flow and color at the moment. They will probably continue to rise and color will become more stained, but if they plateau out and begin to drop again conditions will be solid. You will find mostly dark fish with the occasional stray fresh one mixed in this late in our steelhead season. There is still potential for good fishing though. Remember, you will catch smolts while steelhead fishing in the spring. Handle them with care as they are extremely fragile!
