Help with kshisen please [SOLVED]

Hello,
I searched for this topic but was unable to find anything so here goes:
I have some questions about kshisen installed from the software center on Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria mate and hope someone can help me. We really like to play shisen sho every night but we've found that once our times in the "Hall of Fame", get mostly in the 4 minute range (actually when 9 of 10 get in that range), the game suddenly gets harder, much harder to the point that its not very enjoyable. I tried uninstalling from the software center and reinstalling but it seems that the preferences are stored and just return with no change.
I tried to doing a clean install (its just an extra laptop we use for entertainment) and that did work and we were able to enjoy the game again. But when we get 9 of 10 in the 4 minute range it suddenly gets much harder again. Is there a way to reset the game preferences, perhaps a folder that could be deleted somewhere, without doing a clean install which works but is too inconvenient after having done it 3 times now ? I can't find the folder (I've used Mint for 10 years or more but am not a very advanced user).
Could this be done (delete the prefs folder, or something like that) with the terminal? If so, could anyone give me the commands to do that? Or is there an easy way to reset the game that I'm missing? Is the game programmed to get harder as you get better? We notice also that there seems to be very little difference between the easy, medium and hard settings for some reason.

Thank you. Yes, I've read that handbook, and no, I'm not assuming any software can be made to do anything you want; I'm just looking for someone who understands the nuts and bolts of the program and can possibly guide me to a solution. I'm not a newer user, I've used linux for about 15 years, I'm just not that smart. I tried writing an email to the developers listed in the handbook, but those addresses are no longer functional. Thanks for taking the time to reply. No one seems to know much about this program beyond the handbook. If you find come across any other leads please let me know.

Downloaded this a month or so ago. First I found it irritating, then addictive!
Seems almost random to me. Some are impossible almost immediately. Others do-able. Mostly difficult, some easy.
Haven't moved the difficulty level, it just been on medium the whole time.

Ok, thanks everyone for your replies, especially Wakatakakage. Here's an easy way to reset your Kshisen game to a tabla rasa. Go to your home folder, show hidden files, open .config folder and find kshisenrc, open with text editor and delete all the scores and times in your preferred size game, 18x8 in my case. When you reopen Kshisen, you will be starting from scratch again, all zeros again in your high score pad. I was looking for the config file in the actual kshisen folder and couldn't find it. I didn't realize it would reside outside the game in the .config folder in my home folder.
