I really love the city of Austin! The "weirdness" of Austin jumps out at you in the best way. The countless times I've gone to the groovy thrift stores or south Congress Ave with friends have been some of the best moments of my young life. The culture at UT is one of a kind as well. I feel that every person attending college feels a certain amount of pride in their school, like its a part of their identity almost. With UT its that and then some. Being from Maryland, experiencing the lone star state has been otherworldly. The pride in Texans and in the school is like no other, and it has certainly rubbed of on me. Though I am only a sophom*ore I am a Longhorn though and through! On top of the great city, the larger than life students, the sports and the like, UT is an academic institution first. Classes can be tough, and you feel it. Having to juggle social life with the grueling curriculum is something I had to work very hard for and still haven't quite got the hang of yet.

As an African American female student at UT Austin, I've cherished the vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates diversity. The university's commitment to fostering inclusivity has provided me with opportunities to connect with peers from various backgrounds, engage in enriching discussions, and participate in cultural events. While UT Austin has made strides in creating an inclusive environment, there's still room for improvement. I hope to see continued efforts to address systemic inequalities, recruit diverse faculty, enhance support services for marginalized students, and implement inclusive curricula. Overall, my experience has been positive, and I'm grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my academic and personal growth. UT Austin can further strengthen its reputation as a welcoming campus by advancing equity and inclusion initiatives.

The University of Texas is a vibrant hub of opportunities. UT Austin offers many extracurriculars catering to diverse interests, ensuring there's something for everyone. Whether you're into community service, sports, cultural organizations, or academic clubs, you'll find your niche here. The university's support system also fosters growth both inside and outside of our lecture times. From dedicated faculty to having passionate student leaders as peers, there's no shortage of guidance and mentorship available. The campus and the city of Austin buzz with energy, thanks to the events and activities happening year-round. Also, UT Austin's emphasis on inclusivity and diversity naturally creates a welcoming environment where students from all backgrounds feel valued and supported. Overall, my experience this past year, being involved in various activities and clubs at UT has been enriching. UT has shaped me into an individual who hopes to embody that 'What Starts Here Changes The World.'
